AIA Akron Associates Committee
The AIA Akron Associates Committee is dedicated to representing and advocating for Associate members
in the Akron chapter and committed to strengthening the networking & communication between architecture students,
interns, associates and architects to provide for a more informed, fluent, and productive transition into the profession of architecture.

It is the vision of the Akron Associates Committee to define a clear and consistent role of
the Associate member in the Akron chapter while using the relationship between
associates, academics, and architects as a synergistic tool to promote growth within the profession and outreach to the community.

National Associates Committee
The National Associates Committee is dedicated to representing and advocating for Associates,
both mainstream and alternative, in the national, regional, state, and local components of the AIA.

Interested In Joining the AIA Akron Associates Committee
The Akron Associates Committee will soon be posting a strategic plan once approved by the AIA Akron Board.
The scope of the plan is based around the mission and vision statements mentioned above. The focus of the committee is to offer a professional
resource for Akron associate members with a goal focusing on the integration of Associates, Academics, and Architects.
As such, the associates committee will support community outreach activities & resources such as the on-line coloring book for K-8,
outreach to college students through AIAS activities, and development of student, associate & architect networking through on-line mentorship programs.

Ohio Board Allows ARE Concurrent with IDP
The Ohio Board of Examiners of Architects has changed its rules to allow interns to begin taking the Architect Registration Examination (ARE) prior to completing the Intern Development Program (IDP)
