AIA 2008 WALK THE WALK CAMPAIGN- ARCHITECTS LEADING THE SUSTAINABLE EVOLUTION
There’s been a lot of talk about changes in our climate lately. CO2 emissions, dwindling resources, and energy usage are growing concerns in every walk of life. AIA Architects, in particular, want to address those concerns. We strongly believe that the time for talk has passed, and now it is time to walk the walk. Walk the Walk

AIA AKRON ASSOCIATES COMMITTEE
Last month AIA Akron introduced a new committee, the Associates Committee. The focus of the committee is to offer a professional resource for Akron associate members with a goal focusing on the integration of Associates, Academics, and Architects. As such, the associates committee will support community outreach activities & resources such as the on-line coloring book for K-8, outreach to college students through AIAS activities, and development of student, associate & architect networking through on-line mentorship programs. If you are interested in participating in the Akron Associates Committee contact Derek Mast. More details will soon be available through the Associates link at Associates Committee

THE STAN HYWET SYMPOSIUM
The Stan Hywet Symposium Committee is proud to announce a “Call for Presentations” for the first annual The Stan Hywet Symposium. The symposium was initiated in 2007 as a forum for the study and discussion of a diverse range of historical, architectural, and preservation issues. It is a collaborative effort through The University of Akron, Kent State University and Stan Hywet Hall & Gardens to address such issues for both scholarly and public audiences. Symposium presentations take place at the historic Stan Hywet Hall & Gardens in Akron, Ohio and include personalized tours and intimate gatherings. The symposium expects to bring together over 200 participants from all areas of the region for two days of programming and networking. The 2008 Symposium is entitled: On Display: Historic Homes and Great Estates and is set for October 17-18, 2008. Deadline for submissions: 5:00pm, April 2, 2008.
